It is designed to meet the unique needs of social science researchers, but anyone with similar needs is welcome.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The SSCC provides a complete research computing environment plus the expert help you need to use it. This includes:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Easy-to-use <a href=\"https:\/\/kb.wisc.edu\/sscc\/using-winstat\">Windows servers<\/a> with more power than a laptop or desktop and the most popular statistical software installed and ready for use.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Powerful interactive <a href=\"https:\/\/sscc.wisc.edu\/grc\">Linux servers<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A 5,000+ core <a href=\"https:\/\/sscc.wisc.edu\/grc\">Slurm cluster<\/a> for large computing jobs, including GPUs for machine learning.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/kb.wisc.edu\/sscc\/102689\">restricted data environment<\/a> for working with HIPAA or other sensitive data. It is remotely accessible and contains Windows servers, interactive Linux servers, and a small Slurm cluster with GPUs.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ssc.wisc.edu\/statistics\/statistical-consulting\/\">Statistical consultants<\/a>\/research computing facilitators who can assist you in using the servers as well as helping with data and analysis challenges.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><br><a href=\"https:\/\/sscc.wisc.edu\/sscc_jsp\/training\/\">Training<\/a> on statistical software and applied statistics topics, and an extensive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssc.wisc.edu\/statistics\/\">statistical computing Knowledge Base<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any researcher at UW\u2013Madison may use SSCC services by purchasing an individual or group membership. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are affiliated with a group that has an SSCC membership (see the list at the bottom of this page), get started by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sscc.wisc.edu\/accounts\/request-an-sscc-account\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">requesting an SSCC account<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Otherwise, email the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sscc.wisc.edu\/get-help\/\">SSCC Help Desk<\/a> to learn more about SSCC\u2019s services and discuss whether becoming an SSCC member makes sense for you\u2013we\u2019d love to help you with your research.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Graduate students in the L&amp;S Social Science Division are eligible for limited SSCC accounts with access to the Windows servers and statistical consulting at no cost. If that describes you, get started by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sscc.wisc.edu\/accounts\/request-an-sscc-account\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">requesting an SSCC account<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instructors in the L&amp;S Social Science Division may request limited SSCC accounts for the students in their classes at no cost\u2013just email the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sscc.wisc.edu\/get-help\/\">SSCC Help Desk<\/a>. That way they can use our Windows servers if they have trouble installing statistical software on their laptop and get help from the SSCC\u2019s statistical consultants.
